Helen Vien
Volunteer
Helen Vien is currently a Year 8 student from the Henrietta Barnett School. She has distinguished herself through a series of national and international achievements in computing, mathematics and engineering. She earned multiple awards in the UK Bebras Coding Challenge, including Best in School and Gold at both Junior and Intermediate levels, followed by Distinction and Gold at Pathfinder level. Her coding accomplishments also include Distinction in the Perse Coding Team Challenge and Merit in the Oxford University Computing Challenge.
In mathematics, she achieved Gold in both the Junior and Intermediate Mathematical Challenges from the UK Maths Trust, along with Silver in the Grey Kangaroo Challenge where she was recognised as “Best in Year”. Her success continued with Merit awards in the JuniorMathematical Olympiad.
She has also excelled in engineering and robotics, completing the Smallpeice Trust Engineering Experience workshops, winning the Build Award at the VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas and securing 1st Place in the TAFU-BCS Award at IBM London, supported by the British Computing Society.
Alongside these, she and her team received Special Commendation for Top 3 School Ranking with 10,000+ Points in the 2024 NCSC CyberFirst Girls Competition and took part in the Stemettes Ambitions Season Hack, further demonstrating her ability to innovate and collaborate at the highest levels.
