TAFU’s Personal Responsibility Day – 20th of September
In today’s fast-paced and interconnected world, it can sometimes feel like individual responsibility is diminishing. People often have busy lives, demanding jobs, and numerous distractions that can make it easy to overlook the impact of our actions on the environment and their immediate surroundings. This can lead to a lack of consideration for others and a disregard for personal responsibility.
Plus, we are living in times where the trend is to ignore responsibility, or even more so, to recognise and even acknowledge a problem, but our way to deal with it is to blame others and call on someone else to take responsibility – most popularly through protests. Commonly, that someone is governments, people who own companies, even the Royals. Yes, they all have huge responsibility towards whatever they are responsible for – towards their own environment and the world – but so do You. So do I.
I, ME, as an individual, am responsible for all my actions, for all my good and bad decisions, even when there may be a well intentioned reason for something done. I don’t need to find a way to justify it and letting it go. But I should try to make it better. Better for nature. I can recycle, I can choose to not litter, plant a tree, not to destroy, to give up my seat to an elderly person or pregnant mother, I can always choose to do better.
TAFU’s aims to shine a spotlight onto our responsible behaviour with Personal Responsibility Day, make trend starting with us youngsters. We are a wave of positivity and responsibility and relationships with one another, nature and the environment. We all have a responsibility to take care of the planet that sustains us, our immediate environment and living beings upon it.
By participating in Personal Responsibility Day, we can actively engage in small day-to-day actions that reduce our environmental impact. For instance, we can make conscious efforts to decrease our use of single-use plastics, conserve water, and pick up rubbish. These seemingly minor actions can have a significant cumulative effect when practiced collectively.
Personal Responsibility Day serves as an opportunity to celebrate the beauty and diversity of the natural world. It prompts us to acknowledge the importance of preserving it for our future-selves and future generations. It encourages us to commit to taking personal responsibility for our relationship with nature and all of us.
While this day is a designated occasion to focus on personal responsibility, it is essential to remember that responsibility should extend beyond just one day. We must strive to incorporate these small actions into our daily life routines consistently.
Ultimately, TAFU’s Personal Responsibility Day calls for collective action and unity. It urges us to recognise that each individual has the power to make a difference. When we all come together and commit to doing our part, no matter how small, we can create a significant and lasting positive change for our environment and ourselves. Let’s join forces and make a meaningful impact on our planet, not only on this day but every day.
Change starts with a responsible Me.
