Dr Rasha Ibrahim

Rasha is a Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity, and the Deputy Director of Postgraduate Research at the School of Computing in Newcastle University.

She holds a PhD in Computer Science from University of York and has worked as a Senior Research Fellow in the European Union funded Project (MONICA). The project is concerned with improving the quality of life for citizens, visitors, and staff of large scale cultural events via the use of IoT technologies and wearable devices.

Regarding her efforts towards education, Rasha was the President of York Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) for two consecutive years (2015-2017). Her job involved enhancing the experience of 4000 postgraduate students, and launching a number of projects that benefited York students from both academic and welfare perspectives.

Rasha has recently won a Royal Society grant to help secondary school students get involved in research of a STEM subject. Through the grant, Rasha provided support for year 9 students to enhance their technical skills in cybersecurity.

Rasha has also won ‘Research with Impact award’ from University of York, on her research on Mobile Phishing.
