The Nuthatch (Sitta europaea) is a small, distinctive bird known for its blue-grey upper-parts, white face, and rusty orange underbelly. It is often spotted zigzagging up and down tree trunks and branches in search of insects and seeds, a behaviour unique among birds in the UK. They are highly territorial and live in deciduous woodlands, parks, and gardens across England, Wales, and more recently southern Scotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nuthatches are identifiable by their bold black eye stripe and powerful, straight bill. They are non-migratory, typically staying close to their hatching area throughout their lives.
